Pop-Up Magazine is a live magazine, a multimedia storytelling spectacle performed onstage for tens of thousands of people at grand, historic theaters across North America. Contributors present unforgettable true stories with sound, illustration, animation, film, and photography all mixed together, and an original score performed onstage by our musical collaborators, Magik*Magik Orchestra.
The Fall 2021 Issue will feature stories about disguises, good questions, celebrations, awkward dates, lost memories, dance contests, therapists, apparitions, escapes, and much more. Contributors include Cord Jefferson (Watchmen, Succession, Master of None, The Good Place); radio producer Shima Oliaee (co-creator of Dolly Parton’s America, Radiolab; co-creator, Dolly Parton’s America), Jon Mooallem (The New York Times Magazine, author of Wild Ones and This is Chance!), Ingrid Rojas-Contreras (author, Fruit of the Drunken Tree, named a NYT Editor’s Choice) Ian Urbina (Pulitzer Prize–winner and New York Times bestselling author, founder of The Outlaw Ocean Project, New York Times, The New Yorker); documentary filmmaker Ben-Alex Dupris (Sundance Institute Fellow; impact producer, PBS’s POV) and more.
